Mum bought me the PRETTIEST shoes. They are beautiful and wonderful and I adore then and other people are probably going to think that a bride shouldn’t wear shoes like that under her wedding dress, but I don’t care.
They’re beautiful.
They’re not exactly white… or silver…or gold…
You’ll have to wait and see, but think TALIA when you think of them, and you’ll get a pretty good idea of what they’re going to be like!
Invitations are on the way, so that means that next week some time you will all be receiving them and checking out this site! I hope you enjoy it! Remember to RSVP, which, if you don’t want to email Melody at melodyr (@) bordernet.com.au, then you can email me at 87purple.elephants (@) gmail.com
For those close to us who were interested in speeching it up at the ‘reception’ then let me know ASAP so that I can work that all out.
Cheers.
And just so everyone knows I DO know how to write email addresses, I just wrote them with the brackets so that I wouldn’t get spammed a million times over. Free tip.

Thursday night= late night shopping for wedding shoes and underwear.
I’m not big on just anyone seeing me naked. Who is, really (Don’t answer that- you might know someone!)? So FITTINGS is one of the things I’ve had to learn to deal with. At first it was the wedding dress. Me standing in my pink undies and blue bra having numerous women watch me ‘dive’ into dresses and then do me up at the back.
Thursday night was a different story though.
I guess when I went to try on underwear I thought that the lady might come in after I’d tried on the bra and she’s see me in it and see if it fit right etc. But when she came into the change room with me and said, “It’ll be easier if I just help you” I was a little confused.
I didn’t mind- it was okay. Slightly embarrassing and uncomfortable, but nothing sus. So the lady in Myer saw me without a bra- no biggie. The embarrassed red colour in my cheeks will go away EVENTUALLY won’t it?
Want to know the worst thing? None of them fit perfectly, which means that I have to go back again and do it all over… Maybe a different shop even!
Such is life.

So the invitations are nearly ready to send off. Mum got them printed out, which was a relief. I had to put the font files on a Flash drive, along with the actual file, and then when she got it printed she had to get the guy to put the fonts onto his computer first, and then print them out!
So it was a little bit of a rigmarole, but it got sorted, which is good! So now it’s just putting the words in, and wrapping them up, then addressing the envelopes. I will be so glad when we get to send out our invitations and people get to see them! I think they’re beautiful.
On the weekend we spent time with Gavin Keats, who makes and films DVDs. So we’re looking at having our wedding filmed, which will be nice. Gavin is great and giving us a good price as well, so hopefully that will all work out. I do have to call our photographer, Images by Andrew, and just check that he’s cool with that. But I can’t imagine him not being… cool.

So today, after work, I went to get the invitations printed up. We wanted them done on a colour laser printer, and so went to the place we know. When I got there the guy wouldn’t print out the invitations because there was nothing to say that the paper is compatible with laser printers.
One lot of paper was compatible with printers, but not laser printers, and so he wouldn’t print on them.
Lets just say that something like that is a stress I don’t need that.
I am about ready to give up and just print them in black and white at home, but mum thinks that we should keep trying and maybe get them done somewhere else.
That’s the latest saga.
I’ll keep you up to date.

So I have deferred my internship (for Uni) and am working at the moment. Hopefully this will help me to get some more money before the big day (only 9 weeks to go!), and also be less stressed about the whole process of planning the wedding! I’m hoping that invitations will be out by the start of next week, which will give people 8 weeks before the day.
In two weeks I’m hoping to have all my dress dramas sorted out (wrong size, length etc…), fingers crossed.
Other wedding news is that we’re looking into getting someone to video our wedding. Originally we hadn’t thought we would do that, but the more I think about it and talk to other people the more I think it would be nice. I have to contact Gavin Keats, a friend of my parents, to arrange a time to meet with him to go over his stuff etc.
As far as all my stuff goes I am trying to find a new hair dresser. My old one, who I had originally organised for the wedding, hasn’t been as great as we would have hoped, and so now it’s time to find a new one.
Make-up is organised. I’m going to Skin at Chancellor which will be nice. Marlou and Hannah are going to get their make-up done there as well.
Having some parties before the wedding will be fun. I spoke to Mandy the other night and she’s organising my hens night. I have no idea really what’s going to happen, I am just hoping that it’s not too embarrasing!

The second lot of invites has been designed by the wonderful Luke. There are four to collect, each with the same basic design, just different pictures. I think they’re really nice and beautiful. Thank you to Luke for all his help with them.
Hopefully we’ll be able to get them printed out this next weekend, and sent off the following!

So we’ve spent the weekend tea staining all the invitations. It’s certaintly been a process! I asked Hannah, Luke’s sister to help me with them, and so either next weekend or the weekend after she’s going to help. There’s stack to do and it’s going to take a few weeks to put together.
On Sunday afternoon Mum and I went round to Natasha’s (a friend of ours) to get some more ideas. It’s great how everyone helps with ideas and things, and we have SO many! We got some good ideas for how to keep it shut at the front, and also some ideas for extras!
I was a little bit stressed about the enormity of the invitations, but I think it’s really worth it, and mum is helping heaps with the actual making of them, and with idea bouncing which is really nice. I like making the final decisions though! But I am one of those people who, once I’ve decided on something, like to keep it that way.
Hopefully next week I’ll be able to put together a completed sample one to show Luke’s parents properly as the last time I did I was a little disorganised!
Luke’s job is to work on the second invitations which are for our special guests that we want to share our day with, but can’t invite to the ‘reception’. I’m more then confident in his ability, and even though when he started I was pushing my thoughts and ideas onto him, I’ve decided to step back and let him make it his own!
