Enjoy.

Bake me a cake as fast as you can!
With 3 and a half days to go till the big day we are furiously making wedding cake here at home. It’s been a long process deciding on the cake flavours, but I think we’ve got it- two flavours.
It’s going to be layered, with one layer a berry filled hazelmeal cake, and the second layer a rosewater and pistachio cake. I don’t know to many brides who bake their own wedding cake, but you know me- I’m not the most conventional bride. I won’t be decorating it, but yesterday I did make huge amounts of the berry cake. Mum made some more this morning, and then I think we’re starting on the rosewater and pistachio tonight.
In other news, Luke and have just been told that were able to rent the place we’ve been looking at! It’s in Palmwoods, so we’ll be able to visit both of our families often, and save some money etc. It’s worked out brilliantly.

So last Saturday night was my hens night. It was very fun and special!! I’ve uploaded a few pictures of my photo shoot before hand (what can I say, my fiance loves to take pictures of me!) If you facebook, and you’re my friend, then you can view them here. Alternatively you can view them on my Flickr.
It was a really fun night- we went to the Noosa Jazz Club, and listened to a crazy band. VERY good. I was called up on stage at one point and serenaded by the old men band members- they sung, ‘must have been a beautiful baby”. It was QUITE embarrassing, but it was my hens night, so it was to be expected!!
Thank you Mandy for organising it all for me- I really appreciate it! And thanks katie for driving me there and back, I really appreciate that as well!

I had my pantry tea last night, it was such a great success! Thank you so much to everyone who came! I was telling Luke about all the recipes I got and he’s very excited!!
Thank you to everyone for your beautiful gifts, and recipes. I had a great night and I hope everyone else did too! It as a bit of a late one- we weren’t home till 11pm, but well worth it!
Such a fun night chatting to everyone, listening to everyone’s stories and things. Great fun! Thank you again to everyone who came. I will post the photos from the night up on my flickr.

Saturday was a good day. We planted lots of colour into the garden, and it’s looking really sweet. 19 days to go and I got my wedding dress last Friday! It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to try it on again later in the week!
Luke has organised his bucks party- Zone 3. It should be lots of fun for them.
I’ve updated the gift list slightly (EVER so slightly), and I didn’t write it on it, but if you wanted to contribute to our honeymoon, that would be appreciated.
Everythng is slowly coming into place- name places are being made (I have chatterboxes coming out of my ears!) and candle decorations etc being made. It’s getting so close and real! Next week is my pantry tea and Luke’s Bucks night, then the weekend after is my hens night, then the next weekend is the wedding! I just can’t wait!

I’m trying to inspire you all to not just READ this blog, but to COMMENT as well. You have no idea how uninspiring it is to blog and have no one comment you and let you know they read it. Comments really are the things that bring smiles to the faces of bloggers like me.
So I’m going to ask a question. I think I have already decided what I am going to do in my mind, BUT what you all say could very well influence what I do actually do.
So, here goes. Obviously when Luke and I get married (in 4 weeks and 2 days!!!!) I will change my name to Talia Carbis. My middle names is Sue, for those of you who don’t know, but what if I ADDED a middle name? Rodgers.
I know that when my mum got married she thought about doing this. She never did actually do it though and so to keep her maiden name, Gibson, in the family she gave it to Hayden, my brother, as a middle name. Hayden Gibson Rodgers. I suppose that that could be an option for Luke and I… or I could have it in my own name. I am actually very attached to my last name, because I am attached to, and love, my family.
A negative of having Rodgers as a middle names is that when I say my full name it might sound like I just hyphenate my last name… and I don’t want that.
So what are you thoughts?! I know you have them!

Hayden’s montville rose is in bloom, the jasmine over the arc is budding, and will bloom this week. And !
I’m starting the long process of packing all of my things into boxes and the harsh reality of living out of home is coming to the fore-front of my mind. All my beautiful things are going to be stored untill I find the time to open them all. How I will live without my pretty lady jewelery stands, photo frames, and entire back catalogue of notes, readings, and assignments from my time at Uni AND Year 11 & 12? I won’t know till I’m there
(I’m sure I’ll survive)!
Luke is taking it all in his stride having lived out of home for a while. Such an independent, responsible man- he’s working very hard and coming to see me often! We can’t wait till we can see each other every day, and be the first thing each other sees in the morning. Only 5 weeks today (Saturday) and I’m SO excited! Everything is happening and falling into place.
The beautiful girls at Woolies (where I work part of the time) have offered to throw me a bit of another hens night- for us work girls. I’m not sure of the details (I rarely am with these special things), but I’m sure it will be fun and a night to remember. Thanks Kerri-anne for offering
!
Just so that everyone knows, we’d love copies of the photos that you take at the wedding. CDs, Flickr uploads, or actual real live photos are all very much appreciated. I’m putting our photo album together myself, and our photographer will probably be leaving soon into the reception- so if you’re part of that smaller group of family and friends, photos then is much appreciated!

My dress is well on the way to being in my hot little hands. Which is a relief. But three weeks is still feeling like a long time! By then it will only be three weeks till we get married, and I want to try it on lots of times before then!
The tradition when you’re getting married is to have kitchen teas and hens nights and things like that. I guess my main difficulty with those things is having too many special women that I want to invite. I think that it’s a great opportunity to show people that they mean something to me- even if they have not directly influenced my life, they maybe a great inspiration of the type of person I want to become.
The beautiful and talented Anne Godfrey is hosting a ‘kitchen tea’ type thing for me. And mum and I didn’t want to overwhelm her with a hoard of people, so I’ve decided that a group of girls my age are going to be with my on my hens night (thanks Mandy!), and then a different group of women- women mostly from church, and relatives, who are are generally all older then me will be invited to the kitchen tea. My mum is also hosting a smaller, personal night for me which I don’t know too many details on.
So I have been busy making invitations for this bridal shower. Mum had this great idea of having a ‘pantry tea’, where instead of bringing a present for the kitchen the guests choose their favourite recipie and bring one or two of the essential ingredients (non perishable) in a nice jar or container. This way when Luke and I get back from Bali we have a beautifully stocked pantry and wonderful containers to put everything in!
I don’t know any details about the hens night, and I must admit, it’s getting me nervous! Not that I don’t trust Miss Mandy, but what if she makes me do crazy things?! Anyway, this is all totally in her hands and I’m sure it will be a fun, memorable night.
All these exciting things are happening! On our way to pre-marriage councelling last night Luke and I were just talking about how soon it all is! Only 5 weeks on Saturday. Wow. I remember when it felt like such a long time away! But we are so looking forward to it. Only one flip of my calender and then we’re there!
Nanna has been making me sample bouquets, which are really lovely. We’ve got some interesting ideas and a great range of flowers, so it should be really beautiful! Thanks Nanna. You’re the best.

Nearly all of the invitations have been sent out now! I will upload the photos to my flickr account, and create a ‘how to’ post on one of my blogs as well. But for now you will just have to receive them in the mail and wonder how much time it took to create them!
Luke also finished off the invitations for people who we are inviting just to the wedding ceremony, and not to the reception. If money was no option of course everyone would be coming, but unfortunately that’s something we’ve had to take into consideration, and keep numbers down is NOT easy!
But these invitations are quite beautiful and small and cute, and we’re hoping that people like them. I think the picture on the front looks really professional, so a big thank you to Luke for making those for me- I appreciate it. We’ve already given them out to a few people, and we hope they can come!
